Linking children to their parents
If an individual and his or her parents are in your Family File, but the individual does not appear on the parents' Family View page, you can attach the child to his or her parents.
To link children to parents:
1. Go to the Family View page where you want the individual to appear as a child (the page that shows the child's parents as spouses).
2. From the People menu, select Fix Relationship Mistakes (ALT, P, F).
3. From the Fix Relationship Mistakes sub-menu, select Attach Child.
4. Click the name of the individual that you want to attach as a child.
5. If the child has siblings, Family Tree Maker asks whether you want to associate those siblings with the new set of parents. Click either Yes or No.
If you choose Yes, Family Tree Maker attaches any siblings that have the same preferred parents (see Choosing preferred parents).
6. If the child already has another set of parents, the Parents of dialog box appears. You can set the relationship of the child to each parent.
Family Tree Maker gives the siblings that you are also attaching the same relationship to the new parent(s), unless the siblings would then have too many natural parents. In this case Family Tree Maker gives them a step-relationship.
7. Click OK after making your selections.
