"Dates are Appearing in Foreign Languages"

If you encounter dates appearing in foriegn languages in Family Tree Maker, this troubleshooting aid from FTM will help you overcome the. problem.

The date issue you are currently experiencing is unrelated to Family Tree Maker. It has to do with your Windows date settings. Currently you have them set for a non-American dating system. Please see the steps below to resolve your Windows settings, which will fix your Family Tree Maker date issue as well (our program pulls the date settings from Windows).

Here are instructions to correct this in WINDOWS:

Click on START (bottom left corner on desktop for most PCs)
Click on SETTINGS
Double click on CONTROL PANEL
Double click on REGIONAL SETTINGS
On the Regional Settings tab, make sure the box says English (United States), if it does not, use the arrow right next to the box to drop down a list and then choose the above setting
Restart Windows
