Using World Family Tree CDs in
Family Tree Maker version 11.0
Do you have Family Tree Maker version 11.0 and are having a problem using
your World Family Tree CDs? If this problem is happening to you it means
that you are using a computer with Win 95, 98 or Windows ME.
There is an easy fix and it's free
Follow the directions below and you
will be using your World Family Tree CDs within a couple of minutes. The service pack will update your Family Tree Maker version 11.0 to enable you to open and use your World Family Tree CDs.
Please Note: It is only necessary to install this update if:
- You are using Family Tree Maker 11 with either Windows® 95, 98 or Windows®
Millenium Edition; and
- You will be using World Family Tree CD-ROMs.
You must have Family Tree Maker 11.0 installed before you can install this update.
If you are using Windows XP, ignore this service pack.
It's easy to download and install your service pak:
- Click the link below. When the dialog box appears, select the "save
the file to your hard drive" option and make a note of where you saved the
file.
- Once the update has been saved to your hard drive, shut down Family
Tree Maker (be sure to close both if two files are open), locate and
double-click the executable (.exe) file called "update11". The file will
walk you through the installation steps. Simply follow the instructions on
your screen.
- When the installation is complete, you may restart Family Tree Maker
and continue working in your Family File. To ensure that the update has
installed correctly, go to the "Help" menu in Family Tree Maker and select
"About Family Tree Maker." The version number should say "Version 11 SP1."
