By Rick Roberts, Biography & Archived Articles
FamilySearch.org has added (January 18, 2012) a significant number of Roman Catholic Church Records, 1760-1923 from Ontario (Upper Canada; Canada West), Canada to their free online database.
The collection includes baptisms, marriages, deaths and other records from several Roman Catholic parishes across the province of Ontario, Canada. The overall collection includes church records for events that that were documented between 1760 and 1923. However, the amount and time frame of documents varies by county and parish.
There is no digital index to search but the images are sorted by county, making it much easier to find a record than if you had to search through all of the Ontario scanned documents to find a single record.
Browse through 126,534 images
You may notice that Stormont, Glengarry and much of Dundas county are not included. Many of those parish records are available in book and CD form from GlobalGenealogy.com. Another 15 volumes of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Roman Catholic records will be added to the GlobalGenealogy.com collection during 2012.
