New Online Resource: List of Abbreviations Used in Military Service Files
Posted 03 June 2010
By Sylvie Tremblay, Chief, Genealogy Services, Library and Archives Canada
Have you ever wondered what the abbreviation FANYC means in a Canadian Military Service File? See for yourself on the new webpages developed by the Genealogy Services of Library and Archives Canada at List of Abbreviations Used in Military Service Files.
Military Service files are one of the most requested and popular records of Library and Archives Canada. This new tool will help our users, including military historians, genealogists, and the high school students of Lest We Forget understand and more easily interpret the content of these records.
The contributions of many Library and Archives Canada staff were instrumental in the success of this project, and their efforts are much appreciated.
