BOOK - The Barns of Minto Township, Wellington County [Ontario, Canada] Two Volumes
By Town of Minto Heritage Association
These attractive and interesting volumes contain a wealth of information, pictures, and stories of the Bank
Barns which graced the farms of Minto Township in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, but are
now disappearing from the landscape at an alarming rate.
One hundred and ten barns have been featured
from all sections of the former Township, demonstrating the particular styles of construction found in the
area.
An index containing nearly four hundred names of owners both recent and early, along with known
barn builders and framers, provides a valuable genealogical resource for anyone seeking family roots in
rural Minto.
The books were published in 2007 and 2008 as a “labour of love” by a committee of the Town
of Minto Heritage Association in partnership with the farming community, whose participation,
enthusiasm, and encouragement sustained the three year project.
