Some history of St. Joseph's Parish: St. Joseph's Parish in Lancaster, Ontario was established Jan 6 1904 by Rt. Rev. Alexander Macdonell,Bishop of Alexandria, with Rev J.M. Foley, as its first pastor. As St. Joseph's Parish derived its members from St.Margarets, Glennevis and St.Mary's, Williamstown, baptisms, marriages and deaths anticiding Jan 6th 1904 are recorded in the parochial registers of Glennevis or Williamstown. There are at least three Registers for this parish. The author deals with the two earliest in this book. The first register was in especially poor shape with many loose pages and some in very frail condition. It is fortunate that these older registers were indexed before this valuable information was lost.
