BOOK - Founding Families of Bromley Township
by Carol Bennett.
Were your ancestors living in Bromley Township in 1861 or earlier? If so they were among the earliest pioneers of the district. This book lists the families who were in the township at the time of the 1851-61 censuses. To this material has been added information from many other sources, church records, obituaries, newspapers, family notes and diaries, land records and tombstones.
Lumberjacks and their employees passed through the area at an early date. The first permanent settlers arrived in 1828 and within a decade the communities of Douglas and Osceola had begun to grow up. Many smaller neighbourhoods began to emerge from the wilderness as land clearance began on the farm lots. Early chapters in this book provide a mini-history of pioneer Bromley Township.
Whether you are working on your family tree, or merely acknowledging, with justifiable pride, that you are descended from one or more of the founding families of Bromley Township, this book is for you!
