Books, Maps & Other Resources Renfrew County, Ontario Genealogy & History More Canadian Resources | More Ontario Resources More Renfrew County Resources BOOK - Founding Families of Admaston, Horton and Renfrew Village [ Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada ] By Heritage Renfrew, edited by Carol Bennett
Were your ancestors living in Admaston, Horton or Renfrew Village prior to 1852? If so, they were among the earliest pioneer families of the district. Although few of them were rich in worldly goods we should think of these people as part of an elite group who,
through their hard work and vision of a better future, have left a legacy of which we can all be proud. It was they who cleared the land and set up institutions which are valued by us today. The settlement of the area was begun in the mid 1820s while early pioneers of Admaston arrived in 1834. Renfrew Village - now the town of Renfrew - had its roots on Horton, having grown up beside the Bonnechere River. The members of Heritage Renfrew have compiled this book, including all the families listed in the census of 1842 and 1852. The material has been rounded out with information from many other sources, such as church records, obituaries, land records, and tombstones. While the compilers do not claim to have assembles complete genealogies of the pioneer generations, they have gathered much data whicih shoul dbe of assistance to their descendants. Includes folding maps of Townships of Admaston and Horton, with the names of people who were on the properties during the 1842-1852 period. Whether you are working on your family tree, or merely acknowledging, with understandable pride, that you are descended from one of the founding families of Admaston, Horton or the town of Renfrew, this book is for you! 196 pages 8.5 X 11" Index 2 Maps (folded) ISBN 0-919137-27-X
