BOOKS - The Lanark Era - Births, Marriages and Deaths, In Three Volumes
By Peter E. Andersen
These three volumes contain transcriptions of births, marriages and deaths taken from original newspapers and microfilm of surviving issues of The Lanark Era from 1895 to 1936. Also includes transcriptions regarding returning WWI soldiers, and many who did not. The Lanark Era did an exceptional job of publishing relevant information about early local families and also information about those who left Lanark. When volumes one and two were compiled, there were missing issues. Some years later, copies of the "missing issues" were discovered in a private collection. That enabled the third book in the series -- The Missing Years. The combined 3 volumes contain information on more than 45,000 individuals.

BOOK - The Lanark Era - Births, Marriages and Deaths 1895 - 1911, Volume One
Compiled by: Peter E. Andersen

This book is a transcription of births, marriages and deaths taken from original newspapers and microfilm of surviving issues of The Lanark Era from 1895 to 1911. The Lanark Era was and still is published in the village of Lanark in Lanark Township, Lanark County, in the eastern area of Ontario.

The Lanark Era, Births, Marriages and Deaths is filled with the names and stories of thousands of early Lanark County settlers and their descendants. The legacy of The Lanark Era is the treasure trove of information provided by the birth, marriage and death announcements of it's community members and of those who had connections to Lanark County regardless of where they migrated to.

Volume One contains transcriptions of announcements that were published from the founding of the newspaper in summer of 1895 up to and including 1911. There are a few exceptions due to the publisher's loss of some issues, the most notable being the loss of the complete year of 1903. Those "lost issues" were later found in private hands and now appear in Volume Three of this series. An extensive index directs you to over 15, 000 people with over 2200 different surnames who are included in the carefully transcribed records.

The untold hours that Peter E. Andersen invested to compile this massive work resulted in a comprehensive reference tool that is invaluable for anyone researching families with roots in Lanark County.

  • Surnames that appear in the Volume 1 index [More than 2, 200 surnames included in the 15, 000 person index]

  • Volume 1: 368 Pages; 6.25 X 9.25"; Hardcover, Index; Published: Global Heritage Press, Milton, 1998: ISBN 0-9682524-2-7

BOOK - The Lanark Era - Births, Marriages and Deaths 1912 - 1936, Volume Two
    Compiled by: Peter E. Andersen

The Lanark Era, Births, Marriages and Deaths - Vol Two, is filled with the names and stories of thousands of Lanark County settlers and their descendants. The legacy of The Lanark Era, like many other Ontario newspapers, is the treasure trove of information provided by the birth, marriage and death announcements of it's community members and of those who had connections to Lanark County regardless of where they migrated to. Compiler, Peter E. Anderson also included transcriptions of the announcements of those who returned from the First World War... and many who did not.

This publication is a compilation of transcriptions of announcements copied from original newspapers and copies of surviving issues of The Lanark Era that were published from 1912 to 1936. There are exceptions due to the publisher's loss of some issues, the most notable being the majority of 1916, all of 1920 to 1929, much of the first three months of 1933 and the last half of 1936. Those "lost issues" were later found in private hands and now appear in Volume Three of this series. An extensive index directs you to over 15, 300 names contained in the carefully transcribed records.

The untold hours that Peter E. Andersen invested to compile this massive work resulted in a comprehensive reference tool that is invaluable for anyone researching families with roots in Lanark County.

BOOK - The Lanark Era - Births, Marriages and Deaths, The Missing Issues, to 1930, Vol. Three.
    (1903, 1916, 1920-29, 1930)
    Compiled by: Peter E. Andersen

This is the third volume in a three volume series of transcriptions of genealogical information from the original newspapers.

Peter Anderson originally transcribed extractions of information of genealogical interest from available issues of the Lanark Era newspaper that were published between 1895 and 1936. Those transcriptions were published in 1998. The resulting two volumes chronicle important events in the lives of thousands of individuals and families with connections to Lanark County.

This third volume contains new transcriptions from missing issues. Those missing issues were originally published in 1903, 1916, 1920 - 1929, and 1930. It was widely believed that the missing issues were lost forever. However, the family of a previous owner made them available to Peter Andersen so he could transcribe the information contained inthis new volume.
