Originally published in 1914. Full original title reads: Pictonians at Home and Abroad, Sketches of Professional Men and Women of Pictou County - Its History and Institutions.

The book is a detailed history of the county , with an emphasis on the accomplishments of the descendants of early Pictou settlers.

According to the Author, "…it is said that Pictou is noted for coal and clergymen", although Rev. MacPhie is of the opinion that Pictou's proudest product was the men and women that settled the area.
