BOOK - Supplement to the History of the County of Annapolis Correcting and Suppling Omissions in the Original Volume
By A. W. Savary M.A. D.C.L.
Originally published by William Briggs, 1913
This edition published by Global Heritage Press, Milton 2001 (CD 2010)
This historical reprint is a supplementary volume to the History of the County of Annapolis. A. W. Savary published this valuable reference work in 1913 to address errors and omissions in the genealogies and biographical memoirs in the original volume by W.A. Calnek (Scroll down this page to read about the earlier volume). This book, plus the original volume, are critical resources for anyone researching the history and families of Annapolis County, Nova Scotia.
The author found a remarkable number of errors in details of family history and private life while noting that the original volume was "perfectly accurate" as to history, public careers and other public records.
For instance, in the original volume, the Memoir of Colonel William Robertson says that he married Sarah, daughter of Major Robert Timpany, when in fact it was Colonel Robertson's eldest son William whose wife was the lady named.
Savary's supplement addresses dozens of similar problems with the original book. Well researched volume with detailed accounts of sources used for these corrections and additions.
The book includes several helpful apendices including muster rolls of discharged officers, soldiers and Loyalists at Annapolis, Digby, Bear River, Gulliver's Hole, St. Mary's Bay and Sissiboo in 1784
