General Ontario Interest

Paper of Record Website is an historical archive of full-page newspaper images that you can search for unique coverage of past events. The archive is created from newspaper collections on microfilm, preserving the original format of the paper, but saving you hours, even days, of research time.
Version 6 of The Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid offers a database of over two million Ontario cemetery listings. Currently, version 5 (one million names) is searcheable on the website and is available on CDROM, while the version 6 files may be downloaded to your computer from the website. The large number of records has created technical problems which prevents searching version 6 on-line. Note that the Version 5 files plus the new Version 6 files make up the complete OCFA database.
The mother of all Gen. societies, The Ontario Genealogical Society has hundreds of books and listings for sale, as well as Families, a monthly magazine sent to members.
Each county in Ontario has at least one genealogy and/or local history society. They're all brought together at The Ontario Genweb site, with internet links and/or contact names and addresses for every Ontario group.
The Bible Archives contains the transcripts of all of the Bibles listed on this website, as well as over 200 other mostly Ontario Bibles.
The Ontario Government wants to trash all Ontario land records prior to 1955! Check out the APOLROD website to see how the response to this disaster is being co-ordinated.
Would you like to know which microfilm reels at the Ontario Archives hold which type of record? Check out Bill Martin's personal website at http://www.tbaytel.net/bmartin/. This growing website also contains some unpublished Ontario marriage records.

The digital pages are searchable for maps or people, by county or by entire set. When you search under people and find a name, you can link to the applicable map which has a zoom in-out feature. A Blatant Commercial Endorsement

A million thanks to Global Genealogy Supply for providing the initial push to get this website rolling and for hosting us now that we've outgrown our original home. On April 6, 1999, we started our second year on Global's server. We counted 14,600 visits and had the size of our data files grow by 500 percent during the April '98 - '99 period.
