STANZEL - My research is centered around the village of Ashton as my gr-gr-grandfather, Joseph STANZEL settled near there (Goulbourn Twp. E 1/2 of lot 3, con. 9) in 1819. The time frame is from then up to & including the 1851 census and includes the family names of his children & spouses as follows: Louise STANZEL m. ca. 1847 Hugh JOHNSON and moved to Wilberforce Twp.; Sarah STANZEL m. Denis COOGAN; Janet STANZEL m. William SIMPSON; Priscilla STANZEL m. Robert PRESLEY; Benjamin STANZEL m. Sarah TOMLINSON; William STANZELL m. Catherine WRIGHT. Joseph's first wife, Sarah, passed away about 1830. Joseph remarried widow Ann EYNOUF. My gr- grandfather Thomas Alfred (Nov 1832-May 1925) was the only surviving child from this marriage. His wife was Eleanore TOMLINSON (1831 - 29 May 1892), a sister of Benjamin's wife. I am willing to share info on the above families as they have since spread to Carleton Place, Smiths Falls and elsewhere.

I am also interested in the railway around Ottawa during the steam era.
