NORRIS:: Seeking ancestors/family information for Elizabeth Ann NORRIS (1828-1911) born/died Bathurst Twp., Lanark County, Ontario. Married Ewen CAMERON (1818-1893) at Perth in 1849. Ewen & Elizabeth Ann CAMERON had nine children; John (1851-1934), Elizabeth Ann (1854-1920), Margaret Jane (1856-1890), William E. (1859-1945), Alexcander N. (1860-1942), Mary Elizabeth (1863-1908), Harriet Agnes (1865-1924), James Albert (1868-1943) and Joseph Robert (1871-1945).



 

RICHARDS, Capt. William, born Wexford County Ireland c1790, married c1815 (in Ireland) Mary RICHARDSON  born Wexford County Ireland c1791. Served in Royal Navy (about 1803-1815), merchant ship master (England & Canada, about 1815-17), merchant ship owner & master (Canada - "William & Mary" about 1817-1820s), captain of Tay Canal steamboat "Enterprise" (1834-36) and Chats Lake steamer "George Buchanan" (1837-39). Lived at Halifax Nova Scotia about 1817, St. John New Brunswick about 1818, arrived Perth, Ontario prior to 1832. Capt. Richards had at least one sister, Elizabeth Richards, married Patrick BUSHER, widowed prior to 1837 on which date she was living at Quebec City, had two children; Thomas (b.c1826) and a younger daughter Elizabeth both of whom later lived at St. John, New Brunswick. Capt Richards died at Perth 1854, wife Mary died at Perth 1861. William & Mary Richards had no children. Trying to establish parents of Capt. Richards, information on Royal Navy service, loss of the "William & Mary" (West Indies or North American east coast, probably in 1820s).


GREY/GRAY: Seeking information on descendents of William B. GREY (b.1836) of Carleton Place, painter & militiaman in Carleton Place Militia 1866-1867 and wife Jane SHAW (1838-1924). Couple married 1864. Children; (1) Robert John GREY (b.1864) m. Margaret Isabella STEWART in 1894, operated a furniture store and funeral home at Oak Lake, Manitoba (also known as Flat Creek) from late 1890s into 1930/40s, (2) William Shaw GREY (b.1868) married Isabella Jane LEDGERWOOD in 1891, homesteaded near Oak Lake, Manitoba, (3) Sarah H. GREY (b.1870) married James R. GREIG in 1896 and may have moved to Iowa, (4) Agnes Dunn GREY (b.1880).

GREIG: Seeking information on descendents of James R. GREIG (b.c1865) and wife Sarah H. GREY (b.1870). James Greig was probably born in Carleton Place but newspaper notice of wedding (1896) says "of Cardinal, late of Montreal". Couple seems to moved to Iowa USA shortly after their marriage but there is some evidence James GREIG was in Iowa as early as 1888. James GREIG may be the son or nephew of Carleton Place lawyer Thomas GREIG (1839-1888) or of Carleton Place bookseller James F. GREIG (1831-1876). He may also have been of the same family as Alex E. GREIG (b. c1840) of Carleton Place or Ramsay Township who became Dean of the University of Saskatchewan and married Jessie SHAW (c1870-1965).


BLAIR – Seeking information on parents of William BLAIR (b. 1779 Glasgow – d. 1858 Lanark County) and wife Catherine SYM (b. 1789 Scotland – d. 1861/71 Lanark County). Also place of death/burial. 

BYGROVE – Who was the father of Mary Ann BYGROVE (b. Jamaica, Grenada or Jamaica, West Indies 1816 – d. Bathurst 1833)? Was it Major Alexander BYGROVE (nothing known) or Cpl. William BYGROVE (b. Bedfordshire 1792 – d. S.Sherbrooke 1882)? Who was Mary Ann’s mother? Who was Cpl. BYGROVE’s first wife, born Ireland, England or West Indies? Seeking info on Cpl. BYGROVE’s second wife, Janet PADGETT, probably born Ireland or Bathurst, (dates of birth, death, marriage) may have had brother Alexander PADGETT. Were the following all children of Cpl. William BYGROVE; Mary Ann (1816-1833) m. James Dixon, William (b.1825), James (dates unknown) m. Mary Gray, Alexander (b.1830/31) m. Anna ??, Sarah Ann (1833-1867) m. Richard DAROU, Elizabeth (b.c.1838) m. Robert McCLARY, Edward (b.1841) m. Elizabeth GAMBLE, Isabella (b.c.1842)? Cpl. William BYGROVE may be same as William Tansley BYGROVE

DUNN – Seeking information on parents of Agnes DUNN (b. Dundee 1805 – d. Drummond 1890) wife of William Alexander SHAW (1798-1866) who arrived Drummond 1832. 

FORSYTHE – Seeking information (dates, marriages, etc.) on Thomas FORSYTHE (1782-c.1820/21) and wife Isabella JACKSON (b.1779) who arrived Lanark Township 1820 with the Bridgetown Transatlantic Society. Also their children Robert (1802-c.1834), Henry (1821-c.1821), Christina Esther (1806-1891) m. William HORRICKS, Agnes (b.c.1808), Thomas Robert (1813-1898) m. Isabella DONALD, Isabella (b.1816), Jean (1818-c.1889). 

HORRICKS – Seeking parents of William Henry HORRICKS b. 1789, Manchester England, d. 1880, Drummond, arrived Canada 1814 with Sixth (1st Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot, also served with Glengary Light Infantry, m. Christina Esther FORSYTHE (1806-1891) in 1823. 

PADGETT – Seeking parents of Janet PADGETT, probably born Ireland or Bathurst c.1818, died before 1842, likely sister to Alexander PADGETT, m. William BYGROVE 1830/35. 

PLUMMER – Seeking descendents of George PLUMMER and wife Iva Jean SHAW, both born early 1900s. 

ROBERTSON – Seeking descendents of Donald ROBERTSON (1828/30-c.1896) and Janet SHAW (1840-1919), m. 1878, both of Drummond. 

SHAW – Seeking information on parents of William Alexander SHAW (b. 1798, Doune, Perthshire – d. 1866, Drummond), m. Agnes DUNN (1805-1890) at St. Ninians, Duntocher 1832, sailed vessel "Commerce" 1832, arrived Drummond 1832. 

SHAW – Seeking descendents of Richard Warren SHAW (1896-1965) and wife Ruby AITKAY
