James SMYTH & Mary DOWSLEY natives of New Ross, Co. Wexford, Ireland, came to Leeds Co. c 1818 then to a military grant Con. 3, NE half of lot 8 in Drummond in 1819. Buried in Craig St. Cem. (stone vandalized and down in 2004) They are reported to have 11 ch. Known: Sarah b. c. 1808, m. John McMASTER, 9 ch; Maria, b. c. 1810 m. James KING, 4 ch.; John b. c1812, m. Elizabeth CODD 10 ch., (this family almost all accounted for); Elizabeth b. c. 1821 never married, Wm. b. c. 1816 m. Elizabeth McNAUGHTEN 7 ch.moved to Bruce Co.; Ann Nora b. c. 1818 m. Henry HARVEY, 9 ch. known; Catherine b. c. 1821 m. John JAMIESON, 10 ch. lived at N. Gower; Dorenda, b. c. 1823 m. John IMESON, 5 CH. family lost after 1891 census; Rebecca, b. 10 Oct. 1824, m. Edward COLLINGS, 4 ch. widow Rebecca and 3 ch. in Montreal in 1901 census; George b. 2 Aug. 1826, Marriage dates all found except George's . The 11th child has not been found. 

There are people researching the McMASTERS and the JAMIESONS. Need to contact more researchers.

I would like to hear from descendants of Thomas BAILEY b. ca. 1820, who on 30 April 1845 m. Susannah, dau of Thomas CODD and Elizabeth BAYLEY of Drummond Twp. Children: Eliz.; James; Wm. Henry; Jane; Thomas; Suzannah; & Mary.

Thomas CODD & Elizabeth BAYLEY took a military grant of Lot 16 Con. 4, Drummond, in 1818. Known ch. John, b.c. 1809 m. Maritta SEELEY, 8 ch.; James b. 8 Aug 1816, m. Elizabeth BAILEY, 8 ch. ; Elizabeth b. 1819 in Can. m. John SMYTH of the above family, and had 10 children of which 4 died young.; Mary Ann, b. 1822 m. Robert ROBERTSON, 9 or 10 ch.; Susannah b. 1827, m. Thomas BAILEY, 11 ch., they moved to Grey Co. mid 1860s. There were likely more children to Thomas CODD, who would have been buried in the Code Cem. on the original Code farm, where no stones survived. Will exchange info with CODE descendants.


IRVINE, IRVING, ERVIN, ERWIN. David IRVINE , b. Antrim, Irel. 1823, left farm in Mountain Twp. (1851 census) to go to Carleton Co. in 1861(census). Were his parents in Osgoode Twp. and did he go to assist them? He was in Winchester Twp. in 1871 and died in N. Dakota in 1880. Looking for parents of David IRVINE, who might have died in Osgoode Twp., Carleton Co..
