Queries Frontpage>Member Query Member #567 QueryJames D. Pappin, P.O. Box 13148, Burton, WA 98013, USAEmail: belcou@msn.com I am researching my surname, PAPPIN / PAPPAN / PAPIN, in Drummond Township, Perth, Smiths Falls and North Elmsley. I believe that my great, great, great grandfather, Joseph PAPPIN / PAPPAN is buried in the Craig St. (or Pioneer) Cemetery. He was married to Ann (Anna) STINSON (STIMPSON / STEPHENSON). He died Dec. 9th, 1833 at the age of 36 yrs. What happened to Ann? Did she remarry? If so, to whom and when? Names of her children may be George, John, Mary Ann, and Joseph. Joseph II is my great, great grandfather. I know he lived in Ogdensburg, NY in 1850, married Margaret McGUIRE, but have lost track of him until 1882 in Charlevoix MI. He may have returned to Smiths Falls where I have found many families with my surname. Any help in locating his place of residence and records of vital statistics would be greatly appreciated. His father, Joseph I, was in the Glengarry Fencibles during the War of 1812 and as a result received a warrant for land in 1820 in Drummond Township. I would
appreciate any help in locating any of the above or suggesting resources
which I might research. Also if someone knows the history of the Glengarry
Fencibles in the War of 1812, I would appreciate hearing from them, and
will reimburse them for postage.
