I am researching descendants of Robert and Margaret JAMES who came to Lanark from Scotland in 1820. Over the past three years I have accumulated a great deal of information on this family and am still busy working on their descendants. I did send an interim paper on The James Story a while back to Algonquin College Library. I hope to have the final copy ready in the next year or two.

I am still looking for descendants of Elizabeth JAMES, b. ca. 1810, m. 1831 to Anthony McMANAGLE. Also of Catherine JAMES, b. ca. 1816, m. May 5, 1839 to John CAMPBELL and the first family of John JAMES, b. 1820, m. April 2, 1846 to Ann BROWN who probably moved to the U.S. I would also like to find the death of my gr-gr-grandfather, William JAMES, b. ca. 1817, m. Dec. 27, 1844 to Jane Niblock DERELL. They lived in Darling Twp. in 1861, then in 1871, Jane was listed as a widow. She and her family continued to live in Darling Twp. until sometime between 1881 and 1891. William JAMES was said to be a lumberman.
