MILLER - LEGGETT - Can anyone help us find info about MILLER / LEGGETT? Janet MILLER was born in SCT and came to Lanark Co., ON. in 1840 with her siblings: (1) Vere Robert Ferguson (b. 1810); (2) William Balfour (m. in Canada); (3) Catherine (m. John KAY in SCT); (4) Margaret (m. Robert WILSON in Canada; (5) Thomas (b.1816 m. Marion HAMILTON in Canada); (6) James (b. 1817 m. Elizabeth SMITH in Canada). We also believe there was a brother William (b. ca. 1805 m. Margaret FALKNER) who may have travelled with his siblings or came out ahead of them. Two sisters stayed in SCT. One of them was a Mrs. CRAWFORD. Another sister went to New York. We do not know the given names of thee three girls, nor the married names of two of them.
Janet MILLER married LEGGETT. We don't know his given name. We also don't know if they married in SCT or Canada. A family story tells us they settled near Almonte or Carleton Place in Lanark Co., ON. We have no other info about Janet. Did Janet & her husband stay in Lanark Co? What cemetery transcripts would we look in to see if we can find their burials in the Almonte / Carleton Place area? We have found info on all the other siblings who came to Canada. Are searching for info on the three girls in this MILLER family whom we don't know the names of. Have found the marriages of William, Vere & Catherine in SCT. Will be delighted to hear from any descendants and happy to exchange info.
