 GODFREY, GILMOUR, GEMMILL, CRAIG, McDIARMID, COULTAS, MALLOCH, TEMPLETON, WALKER - If anyone has any old (pre-1900) photographs that might include members of these Lanark County families (especially from Beckwith, Ramsay and Lanark Townships) I would be most interested in hearing from them. I would like to pay for laser photocopies of any relevant photos, plus any postage & handling charges.

Those in Scotland I'm researching:

  • Ann WHITE, wife of John GILMOUR who was bc. 1761 in Neilston Parish, Renfrewshire;

  • Margaret ANDERSON, wife of Allan GILMOUR who was b. Aug. 20, 1789, NP, Renfrewshire;

  • Agnes Parker LINDSAY, bc. 1804, in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire;

  • Mary Ann PENNEY, bc. 1832 - 1834, possibly West Yorkshire, England;

  • Janet GIBSON, wife of John CRAIG who was b. Feb. 1, 1767 in Lanark, Lanarkshire;

  • William CRAIG and wife Jean RUSSELL, both born in Scotland but when or where, I dunna ken, except before birth of their son John CRAIG, Feb. 1, 1767;

  • John GEMMEL who m. Jane MURDOCH on July 16, 1775 in Old Cumnock, Ayrshire;

  • James WEIR and his wife Jean MITCHELL, parents of Ann WEIR who was born Aug. 4, 1781, in Blackfall, Old Cumnock, Ayrshire.

  • John GILMOUR bc. 1761, (when / where?) Scotland, dc. 1846; & his wife Ann WHYTE (or WHITE) bc.?, came to Canada on the "David" in 1821, and settled Ramsay Twp. near Almonte. When exactly did they die? Where are they buried? Did they have a daughter named Elizabeth?

  • Allan GILMOUR - (son of John, above) b. Aug 20, 1789, Neilston Parish, Renfrewshire, m. Margaret ANDERSON Apr 30, 1814, Neilston Parish, Renfrewshire. Margaret bc. Aug 1790, d. Nov 10, 1866. What is exact date of her birth and where was she born?

  • James GILMOUR (son of Allan, above) bc. 1832, Ramsay Twp. m. Jessie Miller TEMPLETON Feb 28, 1856, Almonte. What are James' and Jessie's exact birthdate and place? When did Jessie die in 1916? What does James middle initial "G" stand for?

  • Adam CRAIG, b. May 24, 1802, Lanark, Scotland, came to Canada in 1820, m. Janet GEMMILL (b. Jan 22, 1805) May 28, 1823. Where did marriage take place? Adam d. Nov 29, 1873 in Lanark Village. Janet d. Sept 18, 1879, Lanark Village. But where are they buried?

  • Richard WALKER, bc. 1796 (when / where), England, m. Ann (who? when?) bc. 1805 (when / where?), emigrated to Perth, Ont. She d. Dec 18, 1867. Their dau. was Nancy WALKER, b. Apr 3, 1832, in Perth, who later m. John Gemmill CRAIG. What happened to Richard? Where did he die, and where is he buried? Did Nancy have other siblings?

  • Does anyone have any data on James WEIR and Jean MITCHELL, b. (when / where?) in Scotland, who were the parents of Ann WEIR (wife of John GEMMILL) b. Aug 4, 1781, Old Cumnock, Ayr., Scotland and d. Mar 16, 1848 and is buried in Rosetta, Ont.
