Your focus group was not large but I appreciated the comments your folks made.

We had a determined group of people and we were pleased with the turnout. They were well organized and had many different approaches to the release problem. The release stated 105 and 110 person but I think there was a few more standing in the wings. Some of our people were at the hotel ahead of us - there was some 30+ chairs set up but it kept the hotel people busy setting up to accommodate the group. We were very pleased to have overflow attendance.

The presenters were prepared and had answers to questions from the Evironics Moderator. I think he was taken back by the excellent presentations by all group members - they did their homework. It was also nice to have the crowd as well because each one got a huge applause for their presentations.

Presenters were from the Alberta Family History Society, Mormon Church Family History Community with many statistics about people and the need for release of 1906/11, Alberta Genealogy Society, Executive Director- Archives Society of Alberta, Ukrainian Branch of the Alberta Genealogical Society and the Archivist-City of Edmonton Archives.

There were two no shows who had earlier requested time to speak. In addition there were 10 private citizens who made excellent presentations. Quite frankly I think the Evironics Chap, was a little overwhelmed by the turnout and the quality of presentations. Now we shall see what goes from here.

Personally, I have 3 letters outstanding to 2 Liberal Cabinet Ministers, Anne McLellan formerly Justice & now Health, David Kilgour, Minister of State for Asia and Alliance Peter Goldring. They have been sitting on the fence - all other Alberta Members are on side for the Release. We only need 16 more Liberals to join the cause and we would have a majority. I am not hopeful they will respond positively, but perseverance might pay off sometime. Shall wait & see. Anyway, I have said enough for now.

Thanks for your e-mail. We shall wait to see what happens - even though the Consultant's report will not be out for a while. All the best to you.

Glen McRae
