12/18/2001 - email from Lynn Winstanley to MP Brent St. Denis.
To: St.Denis.B@parl.gc.ca Sent: Tuesday, December 18, 2001 5:47 PM Subject: Census issue Dear Mr. St. Denis; As a Haweater, with deep roots in the Island, I thank you for supporting the 1901 Census issue. Please be more vocal for those like me who have spend countless hours in library's and on the Internet searching for any shred of confirmation of our heritage. Census records are so important to proving our lineage, and leaving the legacy of it for future generations - so they won't have to go through the same. Thank you again for your support. Lynn Winstanley 08/11/2001 - email to MP Brent St. Denis from MP Muriel M. Davidson.
To: Brent St. Denis: MP Sent: Saturday, August 11, 2001 1:05 PM Subject: Post-1901 Memo:- Could we have a 2001 answer, please? To Brent St.Denis, MP:- I just checked your personal message board located at http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Score3.htm#ONT Just click on your name to see the extensive messages received from you. Personally, it looks like you really did not answer the April 1999 one from Global Genealogy re Post-1901 Census Records Release. There is one other message, apparently a phone call in which you indicated support -- but that was 2000. A short SUPPORTIVE email, dated 2001, will do -- then I will be able to forward your message to Gordon Watts to update your board. Senator Lorna Milne has Bill S-12 and Murray Calder has Bill C-312, identically worded. Both need and request your support. Muriel M. Davidson Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee 07/14/2000 - email from Margaret Clipperton to Rick Roberts regarding MP Brent St. Denis.
Sent: Friday, July 14, 2000 10:46 PM To: rroberts@globalgenealogy.com Subject: Post 1901 & MPs Dear Rick, I wrote to our MP Brent St. Denis for Algoma East to tell him that your website shows him as ?. He tells me that he has not been polled for his opinion about the census issue, but he indicated by phone, that he is in favour of releasing the information. I could not find a link to send you this info on the web page, so maybe those who would like to reply are not finding your email address. I found it in the uovgen-list. Sincerely, Margaret Margaret & Austin Clipperton mclipton@inorth.on.ca
A web site has been posted at http://globalgenealogy.com/census to record MP's responses, so that those who are interested, will know the position that their elected representative has (or has not expressed) on the issue. Also included on the web site, is a correspondence log for each Member of Parliament, which will contain responses to this e-mail plus any other correspondence from the MP. The Question: "Would you, as an elected Member of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada, vote FOR or AGAINST a Bill supporting release to the Public, of Post 1901 Census Records, 92 years after they were recorded. ( 1911 census information available in 2003, 1921 in 2013 etc)" If you would like to expand on your position, your entire response will be posted to your individual correspondence log. The Post 1901 Census web site is sponsored by Global Genealogy & History Bookstore. A vast number of e-mails and calls from subscribers and web site visitors, clearly demonstrates that this issue is extremely important to them. Many readers have expressed that their current MP's position on this issue will weigh heavily in their decision process during the next election. |
