Sent: February 7, 2001 2:58 PM To: Hearn.L@parl.gc.ca Subject: Welcome Back -- Looking Forward to Seeing You Again! To: Loyola Hearn, MP: Hello Loyola: I admired your GOLD tick, meaning you agreed to release of Post-1901 Canadian census records prior to the Nov. 27th election. It is my since hope you do not change it for another symbol, as we look forward to a new session of Parliament. Senator Lorna Milne and Murray Calder, MP will both be re-presenting Private Member's Bills, same wording but new numbers -- the Canadian population want the census released, and the Expert Panel report was a good one. We only wish the government would take over these two Bills!!!! The census pages will soon be changed -- bilingual, each province on a different page. We have two great translators which does help. Looking forward to a reply with YOUR name at the bottom, signifying YES. Gordon Watts will then post it on your census message board. Muriel M. Davidson Canada Census Committee Brampton, ON 07/19/2000 - email response of MP Loyola Hearn to Muriel M. Davidson.
Please put Mr. Loyola Hearn, M.P. down as a yes. Sorry for the delay, it has been quite a hectic summer. -----Original Message----- From: Muriel M. Davidson [mailto:davidson3542@home.com] Sent: July 15, 2000 6:26 PM To: George Baker; Gerry Byrne; Loyola Hearn; Bill Matthews; Fred Mifflin; Lawrence O'Brien; Subject: Newfoundland -- YOUR Support is Needed & Requested! To all:- As elected Members of Parliament, very possibly you believe you only speak for your constituents, in your area of NEWFOUNDLAND. We all know how proud Newfoundland is of its family research -- what if YOUR census records were not open???? Your residents would be fighting for the legislation to be passed -- as are other Canadians. Residents of Newfoundland -- Please contact YOUR Member of Parliament and let us know of his views on this matter. The Canadian Census Committee, working for release to National Archives of the post-1901 Canadian Census Records, feel ALL elected Members of Parliament speak for ALL citizens of Canada on this Canada-wide campaign. Please check your provincial scoreboard - to be published BEFORE the next federal election -- at the following site:- http://www.globalgenealogy.com/census/index6.htm By checking the MPs Scoreboard -- you will note ONE has replied. It is hopeful all have received THE MYTHS OF CENSUS by Gordon Watts and have studied it - a CD is available Go to:- http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Farm/7843/poll.html Mr. Jason Kenney will have Motion M-160 in third hour of debate and votable on Sept. 20, 2000 -- we are hopeful all will support him, as well as Mr. Murray Calder's C-484 and Senator Milne's S-15, a duplicate. Looking forward to early replies -- let's have the opinion of all!!! Muriel M. Davidson Canadian Census Committee 25 Crestview Avenue, Brampton, Ontario L6W 2R8 1-905-451-3542
A web site has been posted at http://globalgenealogy.com/census to record MP's responses, so that those who are interested, will know the position that their elected representative has (or has not expressed) on the issue. Also included on the web site, is a correspondence log for each Member of Parliament, which will contain responses to this e-mail plus any other correspondence from the MP. The Question: "Would you, as an elected Member of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada, vote FOR or AGAINST a Bill supporting release to the Public, of Post 1901 Census Records, 92 years after they were recorded. ( 1911 census information available in 2003, 1921 in 2013 etc)" If you would like to expand on your position, your entire response will be posted to your individual correspondence log. The Post 1901 Census web site is sponsored by Global Genealogy & History Bookstore. A vast number of e-mails and calls from subscribers and web site visitors, clearly demonstrates that this issue is extremely important to them. Many readers have expressed that their current MP's position on this issue will weigh heavily in their decision process during the next election. |
