To: Muriel M. Davidson Subject: RE: Welcome Back -- Will Be Looking For You! Date: Thu, 8 Feb 2001 10:29:05 -0500 Dear Ms. Davidson: I still agree that the post-1901 Census data should be made available researchers. Norman Doyle, M.P. 02/07/2001 - email from Muriel M. Davidson to MP Norman Doyle.

To Norman Doyle, MP: Hello Norman:- I admired your GOLD tick, meaning you agreed to release of Post-1901 Canadian census records prior to the Nov. 27th election. It is my since hope you do not change it for another symbol, as we look forward to a new session of Parliament. Senator Lorna Milne and Murray Calder, MP will both be re-presenting Private Member's Bills, same wording but new numbers -- the Canadian population want the census released, and the Expert Panel report was a good one. We only wish the government would take over these two Bills!!!! The census pages will soon be changed -- bilingual, each province on a different page. We have two great translators which does help. Looking forward to a reply with YOUR name at the bottom, signifying YES. Gordon Watts will then post it on your census message board. Muriel M. Hi Norman:- I am looking at that stupid ? beside your names on the Scoreboard for Members of Parliament re census. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/census/index6.htm The ? stands for "Ones who did not reply to letters" We also have an UNKNOWN -- does not reply - no e-mail address posted as yet. Personally, I would like to see Newfoundland have all Members of Parliament with GOLD ticks - meaning YES -- when the scoreboard is published prior to the next election. QUESTION:- Will You, as an elected Member of Parliament support ALL Bills and Motions presented in the House of Commons for release of Post-1901 Canadian census records to the National Archives? Presently we have Murray Calder's Bill C-484, Jason Kenney's Motion M-160, and Senator Lorna Milne has S-15, duplicate of C-484. The census records are safe at National Archives - legislation needed for release. Will you send me a short note telling me you agree to release of census records -- let's get rid of that ? Muriel M. A web site has been posted at http://globalgenealogy.com/census to record MP's responses, so that those who are interested, will know the position that their elected representative has (or has not expressed) on the issue. Also included on the web site, is a correspondence log for each Member of Parliament, which will contain responses to this e-mail plus any other correspondence from the MP. The Question: "Would you, as an elected Member of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada, vote FOR or AGAINST a Bill supporting release to the Public, of Post 1901 Census Records, 92 years after they were recorded. ( 1911 census information available in 2003, 1921 in 2013 etc)" If you would like to expand on your position, your entire response will be posted to your individual correspondence log. The Post 1901 Census web site is sponsored by Global Genealogy & History Bookstore. A vast number of e-mails and calls from subscribers and web site visitors, clearly demonstrates that this issue is extremely important to them. Many readers have expressed that their current MP's position on this issue will weigh heavily in their decision process during the next election. |
